They purchased a building from the famous horse track
"Alamo Downs" in San Antonio, Texas. The building was
moved and set up in front of the Burrell Homestead
located between Castroville and Rio Medina, Texas. That
building now houses the kitchen. As business grew it
was obvious that more dining space was needed, so when
the nearby Burrell School House closed its doors they
purchased the 100 year old building and another piece of
local history was added on. In the 70's an outside
patio was added.
Over the years the restaurant has become so well known
it has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and even
family photos.
Cora's has long been known for "The Best Nachos in
Texas". For the last decade the current owners have
stayed true to Cora Burrell's simple concept,
"everything made from scratch and prepared daily". Only
the name was modified to Cora's 471 Grill to better
identify its location on Farm to Market Road 471 North,
just outside Castroville.
Cora's is not just a restaurant; it is a true family
tradition. Not many establishments can say we are
serving the 4th generation of our customers. We proudly
can!
